Our Story and Mission

Because everyone has a story and deserves a space to be remembered, loved, understood, and gently embrace aging.

Munira was a vibrant and pioneering woman who aged prematurely due to a neurological condition. Still, she defied statistics and lived past predictions because she was surrounded by family and friends. In caring for their grandmother, her grandchildren gained personal insight into the complexities of elder care and the importance of companionship for seniors. Gentle Generations was founded in her memory.

Gentle Generations is a youth-led initiative whose mission is to support senior citizens. We foster connection between older and younger generations through creative and compassionate personal engagement programs based on neuroscience research and lived experiences.

Founded in 2020 by siblings Anushka Noori and Anshul Noori, we address social isolation and loneliness in the elderly community, because no one should age alone.

23%

of the total U.S. population is projected to be over 65 years of age by 2050

1/3

of older populations globally are reported to depression

80%

of long-term elder care in the U.S. is provided by unpaid caregivers

Personalized and community programs support every stage of aging.

Our programs

At Gentle Generations, we offer a range of programs designed to support the mental and emotional well-being of seniors. Our programs are based on neuroscience research and lived experiences. Whether you are looking for support or want to offer help, we are a community committed to caring for the elderly.

Aging and the Eldery

Because aging feels different when you’re truly seen.

At Gentle Generations, we do more than care — we create connections that last. Our approach blends evidence-based programs with deep compassion, so the elderly never feel like they are alone.

Lonliness and Mortality

In a 22‑year follow‑up of over 3,600 elderly people, those who reported frequent feelings of loneliness or who lived alone had higher mortality rates. Specifically, frequent loneliness increased the risk of death (after adjusting for age, sex, education, etc.) by about 20%.

Testimonials

Real words from real people we've connected with.

Every story is different — but each one is a reminder that caring is possible, and nobody has to age alone. Here’s what some of our friends shared about their journey with Gentle Generations.

"Inspired by their journey"

So excited to invite our friends at Gentle Generations back tomorrow. This dynamic pair founded Gentle Generations, a youth-led nonprofit determined to eliminate loneliness in elderly communities, inspired by their journey with their own grandmother!

"I feel remembered."

Holidays are the hardest. Many of my friends have passed, and I don’t have family nearby. But last December I recieved a handmade card from Gentle Generations. I cried. Not because I was sad, but because I felt so touched that someone remembered I was still here. It made my entire year.

Dolores, 89

"You can’t put a price on kindness."

At my age, you start to feel like the world has moved on without you. I was always independent, but after a fall, everything changed. I was a different person. Sad most days. I remember one day there was a painting on my bed and the title said, "The world is a better place with you in." It made me smile. my bed. It was written by a young I needed help. The people from the organization helped me get a walker, but they also took the time to sit and have tea with me. They remembered my stories, asked how I was really doing. That kind of kindness can’t be bought. It made me feel like I still matter.

"Breathes new life into our residents"

Gentle Generations breathes new life into our residents. It is so wonderful to see the young and the old come together and build relationships."

"Made me a better person"

Volunteering with the residents completely changed how I see older people. When I first started reading stories over Zoom, I didn’t know if anyone was even listening. But then I got a thank-you card from one of the residents, and it said, 'Your voice makes the room feel warm.' That stuck with me.

Volunteer, 14

"They helped me grow"

I used to think I was the one helping them, but really—they helped me grow. I learned how to listen better, how to be more confident, and how important it is to care for people that are old.
