Our Youngest Volunteers Bring Smiles to an Aging Home

Pune Chapter - When our littlest hearts connect with the elderly, it makes everyone smile.

The WonderNest Preschool in Pune, India, nurturing children as young as three, is no ordinary preschool. It's a school whose mission extends far beyond the alphabet, numbers, or basic science. WonderNest is a place where young minds are nurtured and compassion, kindness, and a sense of responsibility and caring for others are woven beautifully into the curriculum.

This December, the students at WonderNest have been working diligently to create handmade cards for senior citizens. Drawing, painting, and coloring with purpose, their art lessons are lessons in empathy and teach children from the earliest age that being part of a community means caring for one another.

On December 15th, a classroom of preschoolers from WonderNest will visit the elderly residents of Shivganga Vrudhashram to deliver their cards in person.

Reaching out to those who need our support the most, WonderNest Principal Shirin Nalwalla specifically chose Shivganga Vrudhashram because it is a charitable old age home supporting underserved seniors.

Shivganga Vrudhashram is a charitable old age home located in Wanowrie, Pune, Maharashtra, India. The facility provides a safe and secure environment for senior citizens, including those who are bedridden or physically challenged. It operates as a free old age home, offering accommodation, meals, medical care, and clothing to seniors who might otherwise have nowhere to go.
