Paws for Seniors

Paws for Seniors

Pets offer powerful benefits to seniors. Therapy dogs have an equally powerful impact on the emotional well being of seniors. Even short visit can bring immense comfort.

Program Overview

Paws for Seniors Goals:

  1. Help seniors care for their pets with assistance such as food, vet care and other services.

  2. To connect seniors with therapy dogs.

While each service has its own unique benefits, the overall goal of connecting seniors with furry friends that offer companionship and emotional comfort remains the same.

Our founders believe in the benefits of therapy dogs so strongly that this summer they volunteered to be puppy raisers, nurturing a young pup named Remington to be a guide dog for the blind. Successful training of their puppy to be a service animal will also allow the pup to be evaluated for service as a therapy dog when he is over a year old. At that time, they hope their puppy Remington will bring comfort to seniors as a therapy dog before he continues with more advanced training to be a guide dog.
